Disney College Program

First off, thanks to @MorgansDisney for letting me use her YouTube videos. Please check all of her videos out, they are very well done with great information. 

Oh here we go again, Disney College Program part deux. This will be my second program. First time was a lot of fun, meet really cool people. This time I’m learning from my mistakes to have the best time possible. But lets rewind a little bit first.

What is the Disney College Program? The DCP is a paid internship with either Disneyland or Walt Disney World. You can choose your park during the application process. You also get to pick favorite roles, job history, basic boring application questions. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q0WX1bRWvoE

The other parts of the application process include a Web Interview (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PryFNWv1ER0) and a Phone interview (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qq3ga7Uq0uA).

If you are lucky enough to make it through all of that and get accepted then it’s time to select an arrival date, pay fees, and find roommates, YAY! The DCP is just starting a new system called DORMS to make check in easier, ha, but hopefully they will work out some of their problems for future check-in dates. Unfortunately my arrival date was screwed up and my 3 bedroom, 6 person group had to be split up. 

During my first program (June 2012 - January 2013) I worked Quick Service Food & Beverage at All-Star Movies Resort. It was fun, had great coworkers. I’ll post individual stories later about that experience. 

My second program will be from (May 2013 - January 2014, hopefully longer than that) and I’ll be working Transportation. I’ll do a post later about what and where specifically when I found out in a few weeks.

Here is a quick list of Do’s and Don’ts for when you arrive:

DO: 

Have a bucket list of things you want to do when you are there

Have a realistic expectation of what having a job at Disney means

Have a car

Make friends quickly

Cut lose, have fun

DON’T:

Rely on the Disney bus system to be on time

Piss off your roommates

Expect a lot of free time

Get termed for being stupid

Be a douchenozzle
